Over 97,5 million metric tons of glass are discarded each year in the world Yet, due to glass contamination, only 37% of it is recycled into new glass. The goal of this project was to assist the Venetian startup, Rehub, in industrializing the process of upcycling glass waste into a production-ready paste, in a sustainable and scalable way.The team successfully designed and modeled a modular machine to process glass waste into the paste, as well as assessed potential applications and markets for the paste. This machine is capable of processing 1000 metric tons of glass waste annually to create new, innovative products in a variety of industries.
